Kolkata: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said that Trinamool Congress (TMC) national president Mamata Banerjee should introspect herself instead of accusing her organization and see how the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has in the state won 18 Lok Sabha seats.
Asaduddin Owaisi came here to meet Maulana Abbasuddin Siddiqui. He rubbished the claims of the Trinamool Congress that his party is the "B-Team of the BJP" and will make a dent in the anti-saffron party's vote bank. Owaisi told the press people that we are a political party, we will prove our presence and will fight elections with full force in Bengal. Owaisi further said that I am laila of the politics of India and my Majnu is many, it does not matter. Later speaking to a news channel, he said that his party has not yet determined whether it will contest the elections alone or tie-up with any other party.
Owaisi claimed that he has the support of 'Pirzada' Siddiqui of Furfura Sharif. Furfura Sharif is a famous dargah in Hooghly district of Bengal. Rejecting Trinamool's claim of AIMIM supporting the BJP-led NDA's victory in the Bihar assembly elections, he said his party contested 20 seats in the neighbouring province, out of which it won five seats and the grand alliance. Won nine seats, while NDA won six seats.
