Hyderabad: The Upper House on Tuesday passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Bill, the Triple Talaq Bill by 99 votes against 84. The Lok Sabha has already passed it. The bill provides for up to three years imprisonment to the spouse concerned if convicted of three divorce offenses. On the other hand, MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asuddin Owaisi expressed hope that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board will challenge the legality of the bill.

Owaisi tweeted a series of tweets after the triple divorce bill was passed by the upper house. In a tweet, he wrote, "I hope the Personal Law Board will challenge the legality of this Bill in the fight to save the diversity and diversity of the Constitution of India. Laws do not improve society. If that were the case, sexual exploitation, child abuse, dowry torture would have become history."

Owaisi said, "This law is against Muslim women. Make them more authoritarian. The law will force a woman to remain in prison with a man who literally and mentally exploited her. This law will push Muslim women to poverty."
