Guwahati: The accused who incited people to arson last week lost his life at Batadrva police station in Naugaon district of Assam. Police said that the accused was killed in a road accident while trying to escape from police custody. At the same time, three policemen have been injured in this case. Naugaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Leena Dole has said that on Sunday (May 29, 2022) the police had registered a case against the accused Aashikul Islam and we took him with us for questioning.

During interrogation, Aashikul had confessed to his crime that he had kept weapons in his house. Dole further said that after this our team went out in search of weapons. After the search operation was over, the accused tried to escape from the car on the way, meanwhile the vehicle behind him accidentally climbed on top of him. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, where he was declared brought dead.

Let us inform that earlier in December 2021, Neeraj Das, the main accused in the lynching of a student leader in Jorhat, died in a similar manner. He was allegedly trying to escape from custody when a police vehicle accidentally ran over him.
