Mumbai: For the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019, the Congress Party has started filling its nominations. Former state CM Ashok Chavan will contest from Nanded's Bhokara assembly seat. He filed his nomination papers on Monday. Today, MPCC Chief Balasaheb Thorat has also filed his nomination from Sangamner.

The Congress on Sunday released the first list of 51 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The list includes the name of former CM Ashok Chavan. After the names were finalized by the party's Central Election Committee, Congress General Secretary Mukul Wasnik released a list of 51 candidates. The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have agreed to contest 125-125 seats in the 288-member assembly. The remaining 38 seats will be given to other coalition partner parties.

According to the list, Chavan will contest from Bhokara, state unit president Vijay alias Balasaheb Thorat from Sangamner, executive president Nitin Raut from Nagpur North, and party MLA Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh from Latur city seat. Let us tell you that Amit is the son of late Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh. At the same time, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has also announced that his party will take part in this election, after which the election battle of Maharashtra has become more interesting.
