On October 7, Ashok Leyland, a leading name in India's commercial vehicle sector, officially started delivering electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility, part of the Group BillionE. This significant milestone follows a contract for the supply of 180 electric trucks, designed to operate along key routes between Chennai and Bengaluru, as well as Chennai and Vijayawada.

The delivery event took place in Chennai, where Ashok Leyland showcased its new electric models, including the AVTR 55T Electric, BOSS 19T Electric, and BOSS 14T Electric. This order, valued at approximately Rs.150 crore, signifies Ashok Leyland's growing commitment to electric mobility.

Among the models delivered, the BOSS Electric Truck is notable for being India’s first electric truck in the Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (ICV) category. Additionally, the AVTR 55T Electric Tractor stands out as the first 4x2 tractor made available by an Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer.

These electric trucks are equipped with advanced technologies, including IP67-rated battery packs, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and dual-gun charging capabilities. This collaboration not only emphasizes Ashok Leyland's dedication to sustainable transportation solutions but also aligns with BillionE's vision of developing a comprehensive mid-mile Electric Truck Platform.

Deliveries of the remaining electric vehicles are expected to conclude by the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024-25.
