Vipin Sondhi, the MD and CEO of Hinduja's Ashok Leyland, has opted to step down in order to focus on his personal and family obligations.
Sondhi has stated his wish to devote more time to specific personal and family commitments in the post-Covid pandemic environment, which needs his longer presence in New Delhi, and so stand down as MD and CEO with effect from December 31, 2021, said Ashok Leyland in a statement.
The board has extended its support and agreed to his desire to move on, respecting his personal reasons. Ashok Leyland said, Sondhi will fully support and enable a seamless management transition.
The board has asked Dheeraj Hinduja to take over as executive chairman with immediate effect in order to ensure company continuity and a smooth transition. The board of directors will meet soon to deliberate on the next steps in identifying the next CEO and MD. "I would like to state on record Vipin's major contribution in Ashok Leyland navigating the interruption created by the Covid-19 outbreak and establishing firm initiatives to fulfil our vision," said Dheeraj Hinduja, chairman of Ashok Leyland.
