J&k: ASI injured in terror attack passes away, tight security arrangements in Valley ahead of PM's visit

Srinagar:  Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) who was injured in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a Srinagar hospital on Saturday. On Monday, militants had fired at two RPF personnel at Kakpura in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, killing head constable Surinder Kumar and injuring the ASI. Officials said ASI Devaraj succumbed to his injuries during treatment at SMHS hospital on Saturday morning.

At the same time,  security has been tightened in the Valley in view of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Palli in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. PM Modi is scheduled to address panchayats across the country on 'Panchayati Raj Diwas' tomorrow. National Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on the 24th of April. On this day, PM Modi will also address a gathering including over 30,000 Panchayati Raj Institute (PRI) members from Jammu and Kashmir, while PCs from across the country will be virtually connected for the prime minister's address.

Let us know that Palli Panchayat falls in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. Date- April 24, 1993 - is an important moment in the history of decentralization of power at the grassroots level through Panchayati Raj through the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992, which came into force from that day. Panchayat Palli in Jammu has been selected for the Panchayati Raj Day programme this year.
