Abu Dhabi [UAE], Sep 22 (NT): India's stand-in captain Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 83 off 104 balls innings powered his side to a thrashing seven-wicket triumph against Bangladesh in the Super Four match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 here at the Dubai International Stadium.

Earlier Bangladesh set the target of 174 runs for India and chasing it; Indian batsman did not break much sweat and won with 82 balls to standby.

India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian pacers gave some early breakthrough to the team as Bangladeshi openers, Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, easily out after scoring 7 runs each.

Shakib Al Hasan, along with wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim tried hard to build a steady partnership but failed. Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets for his side. Right-arm pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah also scalped three wickets each to place India in the comfortable position.

In the second innings, openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started well for Indian side, and scored 61 runs for the first wicket.

Dhawan made 40 runs while Ambati Rayudu was dismissed on 13 off 28 balls. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni finished the game with a 64 partnership.

India lost its third wicket after 35.3 overs in form of Dhoni  who made 33 from 37 .Sharma and Dinesh Karthik with two singles off the first two deliveries of the 37th over completed India’s win.

India's Ravindra Jadeja for an impressive performance with the ball was awarded for Man of the Match trophy.
