The arc rivals India and Pakistan will cross the swords for the bronze medal men's hockey match at the ongoing 18th edition of 2018 Asian Games on Saturday. Both find themselves in a place where neither they wanted to be.

Just four years ago, the two nations had met in the final at Incheon.  24 years ago, It was India who prevailed walked away with the gold after a nail-biting shootout.

Along with this, there is a surprise here. Pakistan defeated Malaysia 4-1 in a group match where last defended champion India defeated Japan 8-0 in the group match. Now both of them (Japan and Malaysia) will clash for the gold medal. Earlier India had defeated Malaysia 7-6 in the semi-finals. At the same time, Pakistan had to suffer from the hands of Japan in the semi-finals. India and Pakistan both scored 76 and 45 goals respectively while performing well in league matches. But both teams could not show anything awesome at the end.

Pakistan has the record of most number of gold medals in Asiad history with eight. On the other hand India has three gold medals.

Japan will look to become only the second nation to win both the men's and women's gold medal in same event, after the Republic of Korea had the achievement back in 1986 and 1994.
