Asian Games 2018: Indian Men’s quadruple sculls team wins historic gold on day 6

Day 6 of the Asian games started with a bang as the Indian rowers grab a plethora of medals. After winning two bronze medals at Men's Lightweight Single and Doubles Sculls event, India grabs a gold in Men's Quadruple Sculls event. The Gold winners include rowers Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh. Showing amazing team spirit, the rowers finished with an impressive timing of 6:17:13 finishing ahead of Indonesia and Thailand.

On the fifth day of the Asian Games 2018, India faced a terrible outing and had let go of four medals in rowing. The setback was redeemed on Friday morning as India won a historic gold in the rowing event. India now has five gold medals at Asiad 2018 raising our rank in medals tally up to ninth.

 

Among the first people to congratulate the winners on Twitter were the prime minister Narendra Modi and the minister of state youth affairs and sports and Information and broadcasting, Mr Rajyavardhan Rathore.

The prime minister tweeted, ‘Congratulations to the team of Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh for winning the Bronze in the Men’s Lightweight Doubles Sculls at the @asiangames2018. Their stupendous performance has made the entire country extremely happy. #AsianGames2018’

Rajyavardhan Singh tweeted, ‘What a splendid team performance from Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh to bag in Men’s Lightweight Doubles Sculls at #AsianGames2018! I congratulate them for their great performance. #KheloIndia #IndiaAtAsianGames’
