The track and field players have shown their best performance since the 1978 in the ongoing 18th edition of Asian Games. While performing better than expected on Thursday, the athletics team continued their gold campaign. However, due to the defeat of the hockey team, India has definitely distressed .

 Experienced Jenson Johnson and women's 4x400m relay team are the heroes on the last day of track and field competitions. India finished the competition with seven gold, 10 silver and two bronze medals. This is India’s best performance since 1978.

India won 13 gold  so far

India had won 57 medals in previous games, but today its number of medalists reached 59, while the remaining two days of competition are still left. The number of gold medals taken by India has also reached 13, which is two more than 2014. Johnson won the gold medal by defeating Iran's Aamir Moradi (three minutes 45. 62 seconds) in three minutes 44.72 seconds.

Women's team won for fifth consecutive time

India's four-fold 400-meter relay team retained its dominance performance in the tournament and consecutively won the fifth gold medal. Indian women's quartet  team including  Hima Das, MR Poovamma, Saritaben Gaekwad and Visma Veluva Coroth took three minutes and 28.72 seconds to win gold medal.

Men's team won silver

Indian men's relay team won the silver medal. Kunhu Mohammed, Dharun Ayyasamy, Mohammed Anas and Rokiya Rajiv took three minutes 01.85 seconds to get the second position. Qatar won gold medal from Asian record time of three minutes 00.56 seconds.

Bronze to Seema Poonia

Chunka Thrower's experienced player, Poonia, achieved her bronze medal while performing her best of six years while she finished third with 62.26m throws. Seema was successful in winning the gold medal in 2014.

P.C. Chitra won the bronze in 1500 meters

Indian champion P. P. Chitra won bronze medal in the 1500 meter race. Chitra took the best time in Asia in the current season but she had to satisfy Bronze Medal with a time of 4 minutes 12.56 seconds.

In a first in 20 years, Indian women's hockey team to play a final at Asian Games They'll play against Japan.
