Four Indian girls including Mahi Siwach and Palak Jambre have secured a place in the finals of the ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships. In the ongoing tournament in the Jordanian capital Amman on Tuesday, all four players are one step away from winning a medal by reaching the title clash. The other two boxers who made it to the final on the seventh day of this continental competition are Vinny (50kg) and Yakshika (52kg).

Mahi has made a great start to the day for India by defeating Jordan's Sadeen Alaramhi in the semifinals of the 46kg weight class. Mahi has taken an aggressive approach from the beginning and the referee has also declared the Indian boxer as the winner by stopping the match in the third round. Palak also showed an aggressive attitude in the semi-finals of the 48kg weight class and easily defeated Kazakhstan's Gaukhar Zarden 5-0.

Vinny and Yakshita have also managed to make their place in the final with easy victories. Vini (50kg) defeated Iraq's Dalya al-Samarare, while Yakshika defeated Kazakhstan's Shakhnaz Terzhanova 5-0. India has moved ahead in the race to win 21 medals in the junior category of this event. In this tournament, both men's and women's age groups (youth and junior) are going to be played together. According to reports, India has earlier won 39 medals, including 14 gold, at the 2021 Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai.

In the girls' section, 11 boxers can win medals by reaching the semi-finals, while Nirzara Bana (over 80kg) will play directly in the final. In the junior boy's category, 9 boxers can enter the semi-finals and win medals. Let us tell you that the country's young male boxers Vansh (63.5kg) and Anand Yadav (54kg) have made it to the semi-finals on Monday night by winning their bouts by a similar 5-0 margin. The scion, who won the silver medal last time, defeated Iran's Mohammad Parsi while Anand defeated the elderly Mekhar Iksanov of Tajikistan. India's Ayush (57kg), Rudra Pratap Singh (60kg) and Anjani Kumar Mumana (67kg) however, lost in the quarterfinals. Apart from India, 352 boxers from 21 countries including Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are going to participate in the competition. The final is scheduled to be played on March 13 and 14.
