All sample from Asia's biggest 'Chicken Market' tests negative for bird flu

New Delhi: Relief news has emerged from the national capital Delhi amid the threat of bird flu across the country. According to the Delhi Animal husbandry department, all the 100 samples taken from Ghazipur chicken market in have been found negative. The bird flu has not been confirmed in any sample. Dr Rakesh Singh, director, Department of Veterinary, said that the report of all samples taken from Ghazipur Mandi has been negative.

Rakesh Singh has informed that the bird flu in Ghazipur Mandi cannot be confirmed yet. He said that the vigil of the parks has been stepped up after a special meeting taken by the Chief Secretary of Delhi a day earlier. More and more sampling is being made in all the parks. In view of the bird flu, special guidelines have also been given for no person to enter the closed parks.

The Health Department of the Delhi government has issued guidelines on poultry products in view of bird flu. People have been instructed to cook poultry products at 70 °c for at least 30 minutes. Half-ripe chicken, half fry and half-boiled chicken have also been asked not to eat. According to the guidelines issued by the health department, H5N8 birds are more pathogenic, while humans are reported to have less capacity. The health department has been asked to stay away from the sick-looking chicken.
