He is said to have lived in a rented house in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh.
He committed suicide on Thursday at 11.30 am. Police received information about suicide at 12.30 am. As per information received in this case, Asif's body has been sent for postmortem and the police has also started an investigation about the case. It is being told that the forensic team was present on the spot and the police has also started investigating the matter seriously. According to the police, Asif Basra had been living with a foreign lady friend on rent in McLeodganj for the past few years.
It is also being told that he committed suicide near a cafe located on Jogibada Road in McLeodganj and people living there say that Asif Basra went out to walk his dog on Thursday. After returning home, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the rope of a dog. It is also reported that he was suffering from depression for a long time.
