Guwahati: A case of the brutal murder of a Hindu boy has come to light from the Lakhimpur district of Assam. The murder was also committed only because the young man was in love with a Christian girl. This case is from the Koilamari Balijan region. The body of 23-year-old Biki Bishal was found hanging from a tree on September 12, 2022. According to reports, Biki Bishal, a tribal youth, was in love with a Christian girl and wanted to marry her without converting. A mob of radical Christians killed the boy and later hanged his body from a tree.
According to media reports, Christian activists of four churches located in the Lakhimpur district of Assam carried out the entire massacre. The same people dragged Biki Bishal out of his house and beat him to death brutally. The Legal Rights Observatory, a human rights organisation, has taken cognizance of the matter and asked the police and local authorities to take strict action against the accused. Biki Bishal and the girl from the Christian community loved each other and wanted to get married. The girl had also gone on her own to stay at Biki Bishal's house.
As soon as the local church activists came to know about this, they gathered outside Bishal's house and threatened him with consequences. Christian activists dragged the girl out of his house and asked the boy to convert to Christianity or break all relations with the woman. When Bishal refused to convert, an angry mob ransacked his house and brutally beat him to death. The boy's body was later found hanging from a tree. Police have registered an FIR and started investigating the matter.
