Guwahati: The first budget session of CM Hemant Biswa Sarma's new government in Assam will begin on July 12, 2021. According to an official release, the Governor of Assam has convened the assembly for the budget session from July 12. Assam Assembly Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Sharma has informed that the Business Advisory Committee (BSC) of the House will meet in the coming days to decide on the term of the session.
Sanjeev said the governor has convened the assembly on July 12 for the budget session. With this budget, it will be the first budget of CM Hemant Biswa Sarma's government. This is the second consecutive term of the BJP government in Assam. During his first term, Himanta Biswa Sarma took over as finance minister in the state government. During this time, Sarbananda Sonowal was given the command of the state. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been made the CM of the state after the BJP's victory in the recent Assam assembly elections.
On the other hand, as part of a major administrative reform on June 8, the Assam Cabinet last Tuesday decided to approve flood damage assessment and simplification of infrastructure repairs. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, leading the cabinet meeting here, has decided to authorize deputy commissioners to take necessary action on flood assessment and infrastructure repairs within the deadline from April 1 to October 31. Minister Pijush Hazarika told media persons after the meeting that the Cabinet has also recommended that the first budget session of the current Assembly be held from July 12.
