On Sunday, Assam recorded a drop in COVID-19 cases, with a total of 2277 new cases recorded. Out of a total of 18,117 tests, the state's total cases were reported. There were 771 cases reported from Kamrup Metro out of the total cases in the state, with a statewide positivity rate of 12.57 percent.

13 new deaths linked to COVID-19 have been reported, with a recovery rate of 92.57 percent. On January 19, the state of Assam reported an alarming 8339 COVID-19 cases, the highest number ever reported in the state. People in the state were concerned that a critical scenario, similar to the first and second waves, might emerge.

However, the number of cases appears to be decreasing now that the government has started to provide new guidelines to fight the virus.
