Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has dismissed allegations of corruption against his wife's company related to the supply of PPE kits during the Corona pandemic. In fact, recently he has also said that his family has not received even a penny. Talking about the shortage of medical equipment at the time of the first wave of coronavirus, Sarma said, "We are very much in the north of the country. At that time we were struggling for a PPE kit. The roads were closed. Train and air services were also halted. Whoever was giving PPE kits at that time, we will always be grateful to him.''

Sarma said in an interview to a media institute, "At that time, my family had donated PPE kits to the Assam government. And no business transaction (money transfer) was done and not a single penny was given to any company and person associated with my family. He said about the corruption allegations levelled against his wife Rinky Bhuyan Sarma, "We are grateful despite the Assam government admitting that it was a gift. My wife has already mentioned that letter in her tweet. You can check the account to see if that company has been given a single penny from the state government or not. If anyone can prove it, I'd be very happy.''

"People should not show half the facts in social media or news, they should have the courage to show all the facts. As the Chief Minister of Assam, I am once again making it clear that my wife has not received a single penny from the Assam Government for supply. Himanta Biswa Sarma has said these things on the allegations of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. However, earlier, Sisodia had hit out at the BJP for maintaining silence over corruption allegations levelled against the Assam Chief Minister's wife.

Sarma claimed that he had requested Manish Sisodia and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal several times to help the people of Assam. But AAP leaders did not pick up his phone or respond to his request. The Assam CM said, "I had asked Manish Sisodia to help those people of Assam who were in different hospitals. I called them, but he didn't pick up my phone. I tweeted to him, to the Chief Minister of Delhi, but he did not respond. Finally, I had to send Remdesivir injections from Guwahati to the people of Assam living in Delhi.''
