Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visits Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati

Guwahati: Country's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a visit to Assam amid corona crisis, arrives at Kamakhya temple to pay obeisance. He was accompanied by state CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Two miles west of Guwahati is the Kamakhya Shaktipeeth on the Nilgiri Mountain. The Kalika Purana mentions the Kamakhya temple, which is called the oldest Shaktipeeth.

It was on Thursday that the Defence Minister inaugurated the Kimin-Potin Road at Lakhimpur in Assam. The double-lane 20 km road constructed by Border Road Organisation (BRO) will facilitate construction of proposed industrial belt in Arunachal Pradesh. The road will be mainly connected to Lower Subansiri district from Assam. Addressing the inauguration of the road project, Rajnath Singh said that two days ago, a year has passed since the incident in Galwan Valley. The bravery and valour that our soldiers showed and their martyrdom and the protection of India's borders is less appreciated.

He said the North East is of great strategic importance, its geography is unique. These roads are important for development as well as security. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 12 new roads dedicated to the nation across the northern and eastern borders. Out of 12 roads, one road has been constructed in the Union Territory of Ladakh, one in Jammu and Kashmir and 10 in Arunachal Pradesh. Rajnath Singh said the North East has not developed for a long time. Now, the way the North-East has developed under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is less appreciated.
