In another successful operation, the Karbi Anglong police recovered 1.5 kilos of heroin worth at about 10 crores from a truck on NH 36 in East Karbi Anglong on Tuesday, continuing a series of intermittent seizures.

According to reports, the Dillai police intercepted a 1109 truck bearing registration number NL 01AA 5840 in front of the Lahorijan Patrol Post based on specific information about the movement of drugs along the NH 36, and upon checking the vehicle, the police team found 110 soap boxes containing 1.5 kgs heroin concealed inside the tarpaulin sheet behind the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car, Deepak Chetry (26), has been detained in connection with the incident. Chetry is from the Manipur district of Kangpokpi. The drugs were brought from Manipur and were scheduled to be supplied in Guwahati, according to preliminary inquiry. More investigations are being carried out.

The operation was led by OC Dilai SI (UB) Lutfur Rahman, IC Laharijan PP SI (UB) Deba Pratim Konwar, and other personnel. Under the personal observation of John Das, APS, SDPO Bokajan, the drugs were seized.
