Nagaon (Assam): An 11-year-old girl claims that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her father, in the Nagaon area of Assam. The alleged father was taken into custody on Tuesday as a result of the mother of the young girl's allegation. He was shown before a judge on Wednesday, and as a result, the accused was taken into custody, according to TOI.

Local police claim that the accused father sexually assaulted his little daughter last on September 20 at their house in the Longjap neighbourhood of the Kachua police station in the Nagaon district.

"The accused father fled the house after committing the crime. Hearing the whole incident, the girl's mother approached locals but failed to get a proper response. She later lodged a complaint with the police on September 27," a police officer said as quoted by TOI.

The officer reported that as soon as the local police learned of the complaint, they sprang into action and promptly apprehended the individual.

The mother of the victim reported to the police that her husband had earlier sexually assaulted his daughter and was even detained. He was later, however, freed on bail.
