Guwahati: At least 5 people, including a 13-year-old minor girl, lost their lives and three others were seriously injured in a road accident in Assam's Darang district on Sunday. According to police, 5 people lost their lives on the spot and three others were injured in the accident. The incident took place in Besimari area of Dalgaon police station area of Darang district on NH-15 where a Maruti Swift Desire car and truck collided.

A police officer in Darang district said that the car with registration number AS-07G-6794 was heading towards Mangaldoi from Tezpur and the truck with registration number AS-23CC-1002 was moving in the opposite direction. In the meantime, the two collided. While he further said that five people travelling in the car died on the spot, three other passengers of the car were also seriously injured in the incident. The injured were taken to Mangaldoi Civil Hospital and later referred to Guwahati.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Faridul Islam, Azad Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manjuwara Begum and Sania Akhtar and hail from Darang district. According to locals, the group had gone to the Rovata area of Darang district for a video shoot of a YouTube channel of Sania Akhtar and the incident took place in the Besimari area when the group was returning.
