On Tuesday, an adult female tiger was found dead in Kaziranga's Sildubi area. The tiger was found in a small village, with a half-eaten cow carcass. According to forest officials, early investigations shows that the tiger was poisoned on purpose by "miscreants."

According to a forest department source, the tiger is between the ages of four and five years. The tiger was poisoned and it was done through the cow corpse, based on circumstantial evidence on the scene.

Forest officials have also taken samples from the cow carcass in order to investigate the matter. Officials said the tiger vomited before dying, which includes the possibility that he was poisoned. Because the village is located in the second addition of the Kaziranga National Park, which is considered a major tiger home, some residents may have been involved.
