On 73rd Republic Day celebration, Assam Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi hoisted the national flag at the Veterinary Field in Khanapara on Wednesday. Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, was also there for the Republic Day celebrations.

Taking to  Twitter, CM Himanta said, ''Proud to be part of the #RepublicDay celebrations at Assam Veterinary College playground, Khanapara, Guwahati, where Hon'ble Governor Prof @jagdishmukhi unfurled the national flag.On this special day, let's pledge to take our country & state to a new pinnacle of glory''.

Prof. Mukhi proposed many developmental projects for the state and the city in particular after hoisting the flag, according to sources. The Assam Chief Minister, on the other hand, was present at Shraddhanjali Kanan in Guwahati's Zoo Road area prior to this occasion, when he hoisted the National Flag.

Apart from that, Bhabesh Kalita, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), raised the flag at the party headquarters. At the state secretariat Janta Bhawan in Dispur and the High Court in Uzan Bazar, the national flag was also raised. India is commemorating its 73rd Republic Day with an annual parade on Delhi's Rajpath, which showcases the country's military might and cultural pageantry.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to martyred soldiers at the newly constructed National War Memorial (NWM) in New Delhi this morning before taking part in the 73rd Republic Day ceremonies. On the occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar, and the Chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces, including the Army, Air Force, and Navy, were in attendance.

This year's celebrations are more significant because Republic Day coincides on the 75th anniversary of the country's independence, and it is being commemorated as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' across the country.
