Guwahati: Very violent protests are taking place in Assam and West Bengal regarding NRC at this time. Recently the house of a woman from West Bengal was set on fire because people were suspected of registering her National Citizenship (NRC). A similar incident has now come to light from the city of Kota in Rajasthan. Here Najeeran Bano was collecting data for the National Economic Census 2019-2020 in the Brijdham area when the crowd understood her to be a government employee surveying for CAA-NRC.

However, she managed to convince the crowd that she was also a Muslim, after which she was allowed to leave. Police have arrested one of the accused in the attack. Police said that the mob snatched Najeeran's phone and deleted all her data. The crowd wanted her to prove that she was indeed a Muslim. So the crowd asked Najeeran to recite the verse of the Quran. However, she was released when Najeeran showed Ayat-al-Kursi in her purse.

Banu says that she was going door-to-door in the Brajdham area to get information about the economic census from the people. She said that 4-5 families gave me the information first, then called back and said, "I should delete all the data because they do not want to give any information." She further said, 'I explained to them that these are the figures of the economic census and have been uploaded on the portal, but they did not agree and started shoving me.' In Birbhum in West Bengal, a Khatoon was beaten up because it was collecting data related to digital literacy campaign. Not only this, her house was also set on fire, although no one has been arrested in this case.
