Assam with more than 2 Lakh COVID-19 infected cases, the doctors are working round the clock to treat the infected patients. The Doctors are giving their 100% to save the life mortgaging their own lives, even several doctors have even succumbed to COVID-19 while carrying out their duties. A notice was issued to the doctors staying in college hostels to look for different accomodation.

Recently, it came to limelight that doctors are working without even getting paid for their work. Pratyush Mahanta, a doctor of Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, in a tweet said that he had not been paid his salary for 89 days. Notice was issued to them to vacate the hostels, the doctor posted the picture of the notice and said,  “Days without salary= 89. Now a notice to vacate our hostels”. The state health minister and several other functionaries of the health department has been tagged in the tweet. Doctors said, " We are working hard everyday and it makes us tired. To look for a different accomodation in a week is extremely difficult. It gives us the stress burden". People calls government to provide the needful to the doctors.

The recent announcement by the Assam government to restart the classes, mandated the College Hospital management to ask PG doctors and others in the hostel to vacate as they need the rooms for the students. The PG passed out students appointed to treat the COVID-19 patients are permitted to stay in the hostel, are now informed to look for a different accommodation.
