Assam: MoU between Patanjali and Tokalai Tea Research Institute for advanced research

Jorhat: Tokalai Tea Research Institute, Jorhat will soon collaborate with Patanjali to promote tea production in the state. In a meeting held on Saturday, it was decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for advanced research between Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari and Patanjali Ayurved MD Balakrishna.

According to Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari, a large number of medicinal plants are available in Assam and both the parties will be benefited with the cooperation of Patanjali. With this collaboration, a number of chemical compounds will be extracted from tea leaves and seeds that can be used in medicine, cosmetics and wellness products.

Balakrishna said that Patanjali's collaboration with the Assam Industries and Commerce Department would help in promoting medicinal plantations in Assam. In other news, the state government has decided to set up a tea park at Chaygaon in Kamrup district of Assam to boost tea production in the state. According to the report, rail and port will also be connected to this tea park. The government also said that cargo and godowns and other facilities like tea grinding, mixing, packaging and other utility services would be set up under one roof.
