Guwahati: The prices of petrol and diesel have increased once again in the country on Thursday. Meanwhile, the price of petrol in Assam is Rs 107.63 per liter and that of diesel has increased to Rs 99.96 per litre. Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 108.29 per liter while diesel costs Rs 97.02 per litre. Petrol in Mumbai can be bought at Rs 114.14 per liter and diesel at Rs 105.12 per litre. The price of a liter of petrol in Chennai is Rs 105.13.

On Thursday, the price of a liter of diesel was Rs 101.25 per litre. Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 108.78 per liter while diesel costs Rs 100.14 per liter. Oil marketing companies including Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum have revised the prices. States and cities have different fuel prices due to value-added taxes, local and freight charges that vary by location. Fuel prices remained stable on Monday and Tuesday last week, but had risen by 35 paise per liter for four consecutive days before rising again for five consecutive days between Wednesday and Sunday.

Earlier, the Congress party had slammed the central government for yet another hike in petrol prices, alleging that the prices have increased manifold in a year of Modi rule, which is also a record. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Congress General Secretary tweeted in Hindi, "Modi government has created big records in giving pain to people, highest unemployment under Modi government, most government property sold under Modi government and even in petrol prices under Modi regime has increased the most."
