Assam police arrest 5 accused distributing meat chunks in Kaali Temple

Guwahati: Five persons were arrested in Assam's Dhubri district last Saturday for allegedly placing pieces of meat inside the temple. A police officer has informed in this regard. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rosirani Sarma said that tension prevailed in the area after pieces of meat were found in kali temple in Jinkata Part-II village of Golakganj police station area on Friday.

Locals took to the streets demanding the arrest of the culprits immediately. ASP said the police force was immediately sent to the spot to control the situation. Sarma said that a massive operation was launched to trace the accused who committed the crime and five persons involved in the case were arrested a day later on Saturday.

He further said that strict vigil is being carried out to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the area. The pieces of meat recovered from the temple have been sent to the forensic lab in the state for examination. However, the entire matter is currently under investigation.
