GUWAHATI: Assam Police has taken major action against terrorism. The Assam Police has busted a terror module operating in Morigaon. According to the report, jihadi activities were being carried out at a madrasa in Morigaon. The terror module was operating from a madrasa and was allegedly plotting a major attack in the state. The Assam Police had received inputs from the intelligence agency. After which the police took action and arrested the suspected jihadist. He has been identified as Mufti Mustafa.

He was arrested by the Morigaon police on Wednesday (July 27, 2022) night after conducting a search operation at the madrasa and other residences in Moirabari. The madrasa has also been sealed by the Assam Police. Mufti Mustafa is said to be the main conspirator of the terror module. He runs the Jami-ul-Huda seminary since 2018 in Moirabari. Police have also recovered several incriminating documents along with mobile phones, bank passbooks and other material from mufti Mustafa's possession. Not only this, but the police have also detained 8 clerics of the madrasa for questioning. It is being told that Ansarullah was funding by Bangladesh for this madrasa. Apart from this, the madrasa was also getting money from many other countries.

At the same time, local people say that they have no information about the reason why Mustafa has been arrested. One of the locals said, 'Morigaon police, army and other officials conducted a search operation last night at Mustafa's house and madrasa for at least two hours. Mustafa was arrested by the police. We don't know why he was arrested.' At present, the police are investigating further in the matter. Meanwhile, speaking on the matter, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said, 'Terrorist organizations are slowly trying to target Assam. They are entering the state through Bangladesh. They are trying to instigate the Muslim youth of the state by teaching 'Hadith'.'
