The Karimganj police in Assam seized massive quantities of illegal liquor worth several lakhs from a truck of LPG cylinders along the Assam-Tripura border. During checking, the police team recovered 497 boxes of illegal foreign liquor from the truck.

According to a police official, the truck was heading to Tripura from Guwahati. “The LPG-cylinder-carrying truck was coming from Guwahati. We had received information that the truck carried foreign liquor and other cosmetic products from Meghalaya without any valid documents. During checking we had recovered 497 cartons of illegal liquor from the truck,” the police official said.

The district police have arrested the driver of the truck and a case has been registered against him. Further probe is underway.
