Assam: Probe ordered into 'blockade of traffic' during CM's Nagaon visit

The incidence of "vehicular traffic blockage" in Nagaon on January 15 during the visit of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa to the district has being investigated. The investigation was launched after videos of CM Sarma scolding Nagaon deputy commissioner for "stopping traffic" went popular on social media. Nagaon deputy commissioner Nisarg Hivare has ordered an investigation.

"A huge number of cars were halted on NH 37 on Saturday in the district's Gomothagaon region, where the chief minister was on an official visit." According to reports, the deputy commissioner has initiated an investigation into traffic congestion.

On Saturday, Assam's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, publicly chastised Nagaon district deputy commissioner for "stopping traffic." As a security measure for Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Nagaon district and police administration allegedly halted vehicle traffic near Nagaon college.

However, this did not sit well with the chief minister, who summoned Nagaon DC and ordered him to immediately resume traffic movement.
