Longding battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) delivered six sewing machines and accessories to poor women of Wanu village under Civic Action Plan (CAP) on Saturday, continuing its efforts to strengthen ties with the district's indigenous population.
Phehseng Wangjen, the wife of martyred Rifleman Rangpha Wangjen of the 44 Assam Rifles, received a sewing machine. The AR claimed in a news release that the sewing machines will enable the recipients to generate revenue to support their families.
Meanwhile, the villagers thanked the AR district battalion for their generous gesture. In the presence of the zilla parishad member (ZPM) of Kanubari block and the locals, the sewing machines were distributed.
The AR distributed 95 solar lights to people in Longkhao village on Thursday to help them light their homes amid regular power outages.
