Sriganar: Male soldiers who launched security operations in J.M.U. Kashmir will now get the support of women security personnel of Assam Rifles in maintaining peace in the Valley. Officials said women security personnel of Assam Rifles have been deployed in some areas of Kashmir where they will assist male soldiers in checking women and children at motor vehicle checkposts. She said she will also help in door-to-door searches during the siege and search operation.

However, apart from their primary role, these security personnel are happy to break the myths about Kashmir and inspire the local girl students to dream big and set high goals in life. Rifle woman Rekha Kumari, who belongs to Burdwan district of West Bengal, has served in Manipur and Nagaland before coming to the Valley a month ago. Rekha Kumari has further said, "There were concerns and fears about coming to Kashmir, but we came here to serve the nation. Moreover, there are many myths about Kashmir."

She said that the people here are good and we like talking to them. She said that during the search operation, rifle women present the soft stand of the armed personnel to the local public. Rekha Kumari further said, 'We are women and we have to work for women. So, we start with common dialogue. We are here to serve them. "We do all the work that male soldiers do," says Riflebwoman Rupali Dhangar, a resident of Maharashtra. 'We are stationed at the gate, in bunkers. We join the siege and search operation. There is no fear. It is part of our work.'
