Darrang: A violent clash broke out between police and locals at Sipazar in the Darrang district of Assam last Thursday over the removal of encroachments. Two protesters were reportedly died in the clash. Nine policemen were also reportedly injured. The clash took place when a team of policemen had gone to the area to clear the encroachments. District SP Sushant Biswa Sarma said, "Nine policemen were also injured in the violence. He also informed that two protesters were reportedly shot and taken to hospital.'' On the other hand, Special DGP GP Singh said that the cameraman seen in the video in this regard has been arrested. Assam CID has registered a case in this regard. Apart from the two, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also tweeted about the issue.

In his tweet, he writes, "I am with the brothers and sisters of the state. No citizen of India deserves such treatment.'' Let me tell you that the Assam government has decided to investigate the circumstances of the death of two civilians including policemen and injuring several others in the Dhalpur area of Darrang district. On the other hand, the inquiry will be conducted under the chairmanship of a retired Judge of the Guwahati High Court. Let me tell you that the Assam government issued these orders last Thursday.
