Two militants,going to the forbidden United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA), were detained today by security forces at Lalpani in Cachar district.

Rajbir Singh, the  SP of Cachar, “Acting on specific info, a combined team of the police and Assam Rifles launched a joint operation in the area beside the Assam-Manipur border and arrested the duo”

The militants were recognized as Lalbykelien Gengte and Chonken Simte, both fitting to Manipur, and were allegedly included in numerous killings in the neighbouring state.

Singh said, “A gun, two wireless sets, two mobile handsets and Rs 50,000 in cash were recovered from the two militants”
