The Supreme Court today issued a notice to the Election Commission on the allegations of Congress regarding the alleged repetition of voters' names in the electoral rolls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The apex court bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan also issued notices to Election Commission, Election Commission of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. All of them have been asked to file their replies before August 31. 

The leaders of Congress leader Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot will now hear on August 31. During the hearing on these petitions, senior advocate Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi said on behalf of Kamal Nath and the pilot that after Kamal Nath conducted a survey on his expenditure in Madhya Pradesh, he found that more than 60 lakh voters have two names in the electoral rolls. 

He said that this is the situation in Rajasthan where voters 'names have been given two times in the voters' list. Kamal Nath has also requested in his petition to match the VVPAT machines for the upcoming elections of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and to match the polling slip.

The court asked Madhya Pradesh Election Commission to file its affidavit and give information about the process of election. The Supreme Court has decided to hear the petition on the petition filed on the demand for transparency in assembly elections in the country. This petition was filed by Congress President Kamal Nath. It has been demanded in the petition that the votes of both EVMs and VVPATs should be matched.
