Asus announced that its upcoming ROG phone II will be the first smartphone to have the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The new 855 Plus chipset is similar to the company's previous flagship Snapdragon 855, but has a higher clock speed: the processor now runs at 2.96 GHz instead of 2.84 GHz. This leads to an improvement in processor performance of approximately 4.2%.

The announcement may look similar to the launch of the original ROG phone, which features a specially designed version of the Snapdragon 845, which runs at a slightly higher speed. However, the difference this time is that, although the original ROG phone was the only device equipped with this special chipset, the Snapdragon 855 Plus will be available for all OEMs, and Asus will be the first. The launch of the rog phone II is expected on July 23 next week.
