LONDON: Three women and a seven-year-old girl were injured in a suspected drive-by shooting on Saturday following the funeral of a mother and daughter in London, police said.

Mourners wailed from the scene outside a Roman Catholic church in the capital as gunshots were heard. "Preliminary investigation indicates that shots were fired from a moving vehicle, which was later driven away from the spot," the Met Police said in a statement.

The priest leading the service, Father Jeremy Trode, told the PA news agency it was a condolence meeting for 20-year-old Sara Sanchez and her mother, who died within a month in November.

According to the MyLondon news website, the younger woman died of leukemia while her mother died of a blood clot after arriving at Heathrow from Colombia.

A neighbor told PA: "I heard this big bang and thought it wasn't normal, and then everyone started yelling and screaming." The three women injured were aged 41, 48 and 54 in the incident near busy Euston railway station.

According to the Met, one of them had potentially "life-changing" injuries, but the lives of the other two were not in danger. According to the police, the condition of the seven-year-old girl is not yet known.

According to an eyewitness, shots were fired as mourners who attended the mass watched the pigeons be released later. Investigation has been started by the police.
