Meghan rode in the same car as Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, the wife of Prince Edward, while the Queen Consort Camilla and the new Princess of Wales Kate Middleton arrived in another. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave up their lofty positions and acquired new titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after leaving the royal family and relocating to the US. Harry did participate in the procession and walked alongside his brother William, the new Prince of Wales, during the late Queen's coffin procession on the streets of Buckingham Palace.

While this was going on, Meghan and Harry once again attracted attention when they opted to hold hands as they left Westminster Hall, which infuriated some royalists who felt that their PDA was needless and impolite.
