On Sunday, the mortal remains of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were immersed in the Brahm Kund of Har-ki-Pauri in Ganga. Daughter Namita Bhattacharya immersed the remains of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Ganges with all the rituals.
Earlier, the Asthi Kalash Yatra started from Bhalla Inter College form the Har-ki-Pauri. It is four kilometres from the river. The family of Atalji was present in the Asthi Kalash Yatra, along with BJP's National President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Uttarakhand Government.
People crowded on the road and paid tribute to Atalji who was paid homage with flowers. Patriotic songs were played on a vehicle. At about one o'clock in the afternoon, Ati ji's Asthi Kalash Yatra reached the Har-ki-Pauri.
The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were filled in three pots from the memory site of Delhi this morning. After this, the family came out to Haridwar. At around 10:40 am, a special air plane of the Air Force landed at Jolly Grant airport with BJP National President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, daughter of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Namita Bhattacharya Atalji's mortal remains.
There were 7 people on board special aircraft. Former prime minister's son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya was with his wife Namita Bhattacharya, daughter Niharika, two other women from the family were also involved in the Kalash Yatra. Two separate helicopters from the Jollygrant and the family members left for Haridwar.
Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Krishna Kumar VK said that in view of security, after the Ganga Arti, the place was converted into a Zero zone. After the completion of the Asthi Visarjan Program, the common man was allowed to come here. However, devotees will be able to take bath on other ghats.
