The Delhi Assembly is scheduled to meet on September 26 and 27 to formalize this transition. Prior to the legislative session, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj clarified that Sunita Kejriwal would not be taking over the role from her husband, Arvind Kejriwal.

This statement from the 54-year-old leader followed his recent release from Tihar Jail, where he had been held in connection with a corruption case linked to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. The Supreme Court granted him bail just two days before.
