World No.2 Daniil Medvedev has lost in the singles category of the opening match of the ATP Cup. However, he won the doubles with Roman Sefulin to give Russia a 2-1 victory over France. Medvedev's victory over France is said to be one of his career's most emotional victories. He has said, 'There are certainly some emotional moments in my career but this victory is three of those top 5.'

According to reports, defending champions Russia is scheduled to face Australia on Tuesday. Roman defeated Arthur Rindernesh 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 in three sets to give Russia a 1-0 lead over France. In the next match, Medvedev was defeated 7-6, 5-7, 6-7 by Yugo Humbert against world number 35. This has levelled the score at 1-1. In the decisive match, Medvedev-Roman defeated France's Fabrice Martin and Edward Roger Vaseline 6-4, 6-4 to give Russia a 2-1 victory.

The US beats Canada: Reports say the US has beaten Canada 3-0 in a one-sided contest. John Isner and Taylor Fritz have also won the doubles after winning the singles match. Isner defeated Briden Shanur 6-1 6-4 in 66 minutes in a single match to give the US an early lead. Shanur has been sent in to replace Denis Shapovalov, who pulled out in the last minute from the opening singles match due to fatigue. Shapovalov is recovering from the coronavirus after he was recently infected during a tournament in West Asia. Fritz defeated No. 11 Felix Agar Eliasim 6-7, 6-4 6-4. In doubles, Isner and Fritz defeated Eliasim and Shapovalov 6-4, 6-4.

Evans Hero in Britain's Victory: Daniil Evans also won in doubles after singles as Britain started with a 2-1 victory over Germany. In the first match, Evans beat John Lenord Struff 6-1, 6-2 to give him a 1-0 lead. Alexander Zverev beat Cameroon Nouri 7-6, 6-1 in the second match to level Germany 1-1. Evans and Jamie Murray beat Zverev and Kevin 6-3, 6-4 in the decider to give Britain a 2-1 win over Britain.
