New Delhi: Representative Attorney General K.K. Venugopal again pleaded with the Supreme Court of the country not to punish senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in contempt of court case. The court had sought an opinion from the Attorney General, triggering a debate to determine the sentence, to which Venugopal said that Prashant Bhushan could be released by the warning.

The top court reminded him of the days when Venugopal himself filed a contempt petition against Prashant Bhushan. However, a hearing on the sentence in the tweet case of Prashant Bhushan commenced before a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra. Prashant Bhushan's lawyer Rajiv Dhawan said that if he wanted to read Bhushan's statement, Justice Arun Mishra said that "we have read, we want to hear the Attorney General first".

The Attorney General said in his statement that Prashant Bhushan should not be given any punishment in the contempt case. He should be warned for the future. On Monday, Prashant Bhushan refused to apologize to the Supreme Court in the contempt case, after which the court held the final hearing today.
