Helicopter scam: Middleman Mitchell to remain in jail, hearing on bail plea

NEW DELHI: The hearing in Delhi's Rouge Avenue Court has been postponed on the bail plea of middleman Christian Mitchell in a Rs 3,600-crore deal for the Agusta Westland VVIP helicopter purchase. The hearing has been postponed on the demand of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court will now hear the case on August 28. Michelle said in her petition that the investigation has been completed, with no purpose in keeping her jailed for longer.

It may be mentioned that Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar had sent notices to both the agencies (ED and CBI) seeking their response on the petition and posted the matter for further hearing today, august 19th. Mitchell said no specific material was produced before the court to confirm the charges against him.  Earlier, ED and CBI had questioned Michelle for 600 hours in the case.

Mitchell's lawyer, Alzo, was informed of this. Joseph has given. Michelle has mentioned this in her bail plea. "The applicant was questioned for 600 hours by both agencies in custody. Till date, the period of custody of the applicant has been 375 days. This includes the period spent in a Dubai jail."
