Arch -rival Australia registered highest chase in the history of Twenty20 cricket as they handed New Zealand a five-wicket thrashing by polishing off 243 runs in just 18.5 overs at the Eden Park in Auckland on Friday (February 16). This is Australia fourth consecutive victory in the series over England and Kiwis, Last game will be played between Kiwis and England.

With a placid track ahead of them and short boundaries already intimidating the bowlers, New Zealand had no hesitation in batting first. The Australian all-rounder, probably, won't have any disinclination in eating his words back as New Zealand hammered 243 for 6. In-form batsmen D'Arcy Short made 76 runs off 44 balls to see Australia home and help them register their fourth consecutive win of the tri-series.

For Australia, though, the carnage started right from the very beginning. Guptill picked up 12 runs from the first over by Kane Richardson and continued by taking 13 from the second over. Munro too joined the party after facing just one ball in the first two overs. It was Munro's assault that put Guptill's knock in shade till it lasted. Openers D’arcy Short and and David Warner blazing 121 runs in only 8.3 overs for the first wicket. Riding the momentum surpassed the target of 244 with seven deliveries to spare. But for all the runs, records and sixes on Friday, Australia’s world-record run-chase and the overall assault on the bowlers from both teams had a lot to do with the uniqueness of Eden Park.
