Indian flights banned till May 15, Australian PM Morrison announces

New Delhi: Australia has also joined the list of countries that have banned passenger flights in India amid a recent rise in coronavirus cases. Australian PM Scott Morrison has said that the suspension will continue till at least May 15 as the risk of travel from India is clearly present.

He further said that though this is a temporary measure, it will affect the aviation industry as many countries have banned passenger flights in India in recent times. Australia is on the list of countries that have suspended flights from India. Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, UAE, and Pakistan have announced similar measures that could limit the number of Countries visiting during the Indian epidemic.

Many countries have said that Indian travelers have a higher positivity rate than other countries. Last week, Canada's health minister said 1.8% of all Canadian travelers tested positive for corona. While passengers in India account for 20 percent of all these infected cases.
