Dubai: Australia finally clinched the T20 World Cup title for the first time. Australia beat New Zealand by 8 wickets. The New Zealand team, sent to bat first, scored 172 for four with the help of captain Kane Williamson's innings of 85 runs in 48 balls.

Chasing the target, Australia was bowled out for just two wickets with seven balls to spare. For Australia, David Warner scored 53 off 38 balls. Mitchell Marsh scored 77 off 50 balls. New Zealand's Trent Boult took 2 wickets. Australia beat New Zealand by eight wickets to clinch the T20 World Cup title.

The New Zealand team, which unfortunately lost the final to England in the 50-over World Cup two years ago, once again has to settle for runners-up in the ICC World Cup tournament. Marsh and Warner's innings fell heavily on Williamson's remarkable batting.  Marsh hit six fours and four sixes in his innings, out of which two sixes in Ish Sodhi's over were excellent.
