Former Australian cricketer veteran Dean Jones died of a heart attack. Jones was part of Star Sports' commentary team and was in a bio-safe environment at the Seven Star Hotel in Mumbai. He was 59 years old. Dean Jones has been an active cricket analyst and was signed to the off-tube commentary for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE. Jones is a popular figure in the Indian media. His show was extremely popular on NDTV. He has commented on various leagues and is known for his precise views.

Melbourne-born Dean Jones played 52 Tests, scoring 3631 runs at an average of 46.55. With the best score of 216, Jones scored 11 centuries and was an important member of Alan Border's team. Jones also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs with the help of seven centuries and 46 fifties. Jones was one of the first Australian batsmen to be cut out for a limited-overs game and was quite successful in it.

Star India said in its official statement, "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing away of Mr Dean Mervyn Jones AM. He died of a sudden cardiac arrest. We express our deep condolences to his family and stand ready to support them in this difficult time. We are in touch with the Australian High Commission to make the necessary arrangements."
