New Delhi:- An Australian family has spoken out about the pain they faced after their daughter was diagnosed with a rare and debilitating disease. Her trip to Fiji turned into a nightmare as the blisters she developed became infected and inflamed her legs.

Ten-year-old Bella Macy, dubbed "the most painful condition" known to mankind, developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) during her family's first overseas trip since the pandemic.

This rare intractable syndrome causes chronic and extreme pain. Bella Macy has pain in her right leg. She said, "Everything is sharp, burns, and tingles." All kinds of pain I never thought possible," Bella told A Current Affair.

The girl, who was previously healthy, was no longer able to participate in activities she enjoyed, such as walking or running, without experiencing debilitating pain. She "cannot shower or bathe," Bella said.

"I can't put any sheets on it... Don't even touch my handkerchief. I'll scream." Her parents are also in pain and unable to comfort their little daughter. Her mother, Emma Macy, said, "She wants to hold her tight but she can't because it hurts when she moves."

Despite their best efforts, the family could not find any solution in Australia, so they had to seek help from doctors in the United States. Bella and her mother had to make a painful international trip to the United States to receive treatment at the Spero Clinic.

"We will sell the house if she really needs it. There is nothing we can't do to make her better," her mother said.

Her mother organized her GoFundMe campaign to fund her daughter's treatment. Generous Australians have raised about $127,000 of their $157,000 goal.  Despite the good news that treatment may be available, the Macy family is unsure if they will be able to pay for it.
